All American Weekend - Day 4 - Friday, September 4
The day began bright and early with a few morning workouts at Ruidoso Downs. That afternoon, there was a full day of racing for All American enthusiasts to enjoy while gearing up for the big races.
Later in the evening the parking lot overflowed with people attending the 2015 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale that began at 5:30 p.m. at the Ruidoso Downs Sales Pavilion.
The top 5 sellers brought in a total of $652,000 - four being colts and one filly.

Hip #157 Eyeonthecartel - colt (Corona Cartel-Mongoose Jet Eye) - $135,000
Hip #100 Jess Hold Me Now - filly (Mr Jess Perry-Hold Me Now) - $127,000
Hip #56 Muddy Watters - colt (Corona Cartel-Runaway Wave) - $105,000
Hip #133 Bella Faccia - colt (One Famous Eagle-Special Queen SA) - $105,000
Many familiar faces sat ringside in the sale barn including Calder Ezzell, Candy Ezzell, State Representative, and Leonard Blach, DVM., who has been the sale veterinarian for over 27 years!
Anna Fay Davis, Executive Director of the New Mexico Horse Breeders Association since 1995 said, "It's nice to see everybody from all over the United States. You are looking at 2016 All American prospects. This sale is where dreams can come true!"
Shaun Hubbard has been an equine enthusiast his whole life. He said, "The best in the world are here at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. The horse flesh that is here is amazing." In talking with Shaun, Speedhorse learned he is an avid OU football fan and will have the Oklahoma VS Akron Zips football game simulcast throughout the sale beginning at 5 p.m. Mountain Time on Saturday. He also has a dog named Boomer and was sporting some pretty fancy OU cowboy boots! Now that's an OU fan! Boomer Sooner!
Monica Williams of Beilau Oaks loves the Ruidoso Yearling Sale and said she comes because of the, "good horses, good people and great weather."
Nancy Yearsley said, "It's 'The' market place and the best pedigreed horses are here. If you are in the horse business you won't miss this weekend with all of the excitement that happens!"
Kevin Trimmill of Heritage Place likes to come to see all of his friends that he has developed through the years.
