Dan and Kaye Jones, owners of CRM Livewire, are attending the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for the very first time. Kaye said, "We had the opportunity to go and just couldn't resist coming. It's been on our bucket list and it's been such an exciting weekend so far!!"

Debbie Tiffee, owner of SangReal comes to the sale because this sale sets the bar on the quality of racehorse prospects. Debbie who came this year with her husband Billy said, "We leave the heat and humidity of South Texas for the cool mountain air in Ruidoso!"

Sam "Harold" Thompson, Sr. and wife Cathy came to visit with us at the Speedhorse Booth during the sale on Saturday. The family came in for the Sam Thompson Memorial Jockey Award presentation, named after Sam Senior's son, which will be presented on Sunday between the 7th and 8th race in the Winner's Circle. This award is voted on by the jockeys every year. Cathy Thompson said, "We feel this is a very special way to honor Sam and we are very touched that Speedhorse Magazine presents this award each year."

Ryan Robicheaux brought 17 head of horses to sell. He said, "There is something about this weekend that is magical! People come in hopes of finding the next All American Futurity Winner!" Robicheaux Ranch was serving their famous gumbo in the sale barn area.

Erin and Dan Knox are attending their 5th Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. This is the third year that Erin Knox has had yearlings in the sale. Erin said, "I made a very emotional trip to the stall to say goodbye to Koolaid. It is very hard for me to let go of the yearlings I have grown to love." Hip #270 sold for $75,000. As luck would have it for Erin, Dan repurchased the colt for her for their 10th Wedding Anniversary.

Cheryl and Rozella Pevehouse attended the sale but not until after they ran off some nervous energy. The ladies visited Carlsbad Caverns & White Sands, New Mexico. Cheryl said, "I'm so excited I think I could run the race myself!" While Rozella said, "I just can't describe the feeling of this experience!" Jess Good Candy is owned by The Estate of Carl Pevehouse and he will be starting from the 5 hole in the All American Futurity on Monday.
