UQHRA Announces Eye On Corona Virus Futurity
OGDEN, UT—MAY 12, 2020—The Utah Quarter Horse Racing Association announced today they will be hosting an overnight futurity, the Eye On Corona Virus Futurity.
"With the help of Eye On Corona and their sponsorship we have been able to put together an open futurity to anyone who wants to enter," Savana Canales, UQHRA Secretary said today in press release.
Entry's to the 330 yard $10,000-added futurity will be $1,000 plus an $85 jock mount.
Depending on the number of entries, trials will be contested Saturday May 23 or Sunday May 24 at Weber Downs in Ogden, Utah.
Finals for the Eye On Corona Virus Futurity will be ran two weeks later June 6, 2020 at Laurel Brown Race Track in South Jordan, Utah.
Open to all American Quarter Horse foals of 2018, horsemen are asked to send their nominations into Savana Canales by Friday May 15, 2020.
"We enter for finals day in Ogden on Tuesday May 19, 2020 and we need to know how many head will be running before then," Canales said.
Horsemen must remit their entry payment of $1,000 and the jock mount of $85 for the futurity no later than noon (MDT) on trial race day. Late payments will be scratched from the race.

"We have a lot of horsemen up here and in surrounding states who have 2-year-olds that were scheduled to run in races at tracks that have closed due to the COVID-19," Wes Young, co-owner of Eye On Corona said. "Hopefully this will give them a place for some of the 2-year-olds that have had nowhere to go."
