AMERICAN QUARTER HORSE ASSOCIATION—MAY 7, 2020— Dr. Glenn Blodgett has been selected to join the individuals and horses who will be inducted into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame at the 2021 AQHA Convention in San Antonio.

Induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame is the highest industry honor that can be bestowed upon a human or equine. Those chosen for induction are recognized for their lifetime of accomplishments and service.

AQHA Past President Dr. Glenn Blodgett of Guthrie, Texas, will be inducted into the Class of 2021 at the 2021 AQHA Convention in San Antonio. He will be honored at the convention, along with the Hall of Fame Class of 2020, whose induction was postponed due to the cancellation of the 2020 AQHA Convention.

Dr. Blodgett received his bachelor’s degree in animal science from Oklahoma State University and earned his degree in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M University and has since been recognized as an outstanding alumnus by both universities.

In 1982, Dr. Blodgett became the resident veterinarian and manager of the horse division at the Four Sixes Ranch at Guthrie, Texas. As the head of the ranch’s horse division, Dr. Blodgett has made the ranch an industry leader in equine embryo transfer and artificial insemination, consistently producing and developing some of the most highly recognized racing and western performance American Quarter Horses in the world. In his tenure at the Four Sixes, the ranch has become an all-time leading breeder of racing and performance American Quarter Horses, and in 1993, the ranch won the AQHA Best Remuda Award.

Dr. Blodgett became an AQHA director in 1991, and in 2011, elevated to director-at-large. Dr. Blodgett served on the AQHA Stud Book and Registration Committee and as its chairman. He also served on the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame Selection Committee. He is also a member of the AQHA Animal Welfare Commission. Dr. Blodgett was also the recipient of the 2011 AQHA Racing Council Special Recognition Award. In 2012, he was elected to the AQHA Executive Committee and served as AQHA president in 2015. In 2019, Dr. Blodgett was inducted in the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.

About the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame
The American Quarter Horse Foundation connects people and horses through charitable giving in order to develop and support programs or initiatives that preserve our horse’s legacy and further the overall well-being of the American Quarter Horse and the people who comprise the Quarter Horse family.

The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum fulfills the Foundation’s mission by beautifully showcasing the hundreds of horses and people who have earned the distinction of becoming part of the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame. These inductees are chosen each year by a selection committee and inducted into the Hall of Fame at the annual AQHA convention. They are also honored each year at the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame Dedication, which is a special celebration where the newest class’ display cases, featuring artifacts and information about each Hall of Famer, are revealed.
