There was a full card for the second day of racing at Ruidoso Downs on Saturday, August 31. Six out of eleven races scheduled for the day were for Quarter Horses. The program included two stakes races; the $20,000 Bill Reed Memorial Stakes and the $25,000 John Andreini Memorial Stakes.

Race #9, the $20,000 Bill Reed Memorial Stakes, which is an 870-yard mixed race, was won by five-year-old gelding Illtakeyouforaride under jockey Kelsi Purcell. His sire is FDD Dynasty and he is out of Dashingfordestiny by Mr Jess Perry. Illtakeyouforaride was bred by Kirk Goodfellow, owned by Sherree Meridyth and trained by G. Munoz, Jr. In second place was Midevil Hero TB by Everyday Heroes, and in third was Executive Trust by Executive Menace. The remaining order of finish was Al Siete De Copas, Amsterdams Big Daddy, Sucknemup, Native Abu and Sin Tachas First.

Race #10 was the $25,000 John Andreini Memorial Stakes. Winner of the race was Senator Fast Jack, ridden by jockey Noe Garcia, Jr. Owned and bred by Bob and Sissie McClure and trained by Harvey Baeza, Senator Fast Jack is sired by Louisiana Senator and out of Shezafasterthanjack by Heza Fast Dash. Coming in 2nd to Senator Fast Jack was Kowboy Jim by FDD Dynasty and in 3rd was Apollitical Flying by Apollitical Jess. The remaining order of finish was Delight Won, Watah Flash, Corona Squared, Personal Jess, Streamin Eagle, Moonflash Numbers and YM Valentine.

After the 11th race was over at the track, the second day of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale resumed at the sales pavilion. Everything went off without a hitch, the weather remained perfect and the rain held off. During the sale, between hip 211 and 212, a breeding to Champion Kiss My Hocks, standing at Southwest Stallion Station and a breeding to Hez Our Secret, standing at the 6666 Ranch, was being offered to support the Ruidoso Downs Race Track Foundation and the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack Chaplaincy. The foundation supports the Ruidoso Downs Racehorse Hall of Fame, the Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium, future scholarship program and the Chaplaincy on the ground of the track.

The second day totals brought in nearly $7.1 Million, including repurchases and $6.2 Million after repurchases. The total for both days is $12.1 Million before repurchases and nearly $10.8 after repurchases. The top 5 sellers (not including repurchases) brought in a total of $950,000 - three being colts and two fillies.
