RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JULY 4, 2019—Ted Abrams' two-time world champion homebred Jessies First Down arrived at Ruidoso Downs on Wednesday night and will probably point at the Grade 1, $200,000 All American Gold Cup at 440 yards on September 1 at Ruidoso Downs.

Jessies First Down won the 2017 All American Gold Cup and was second in the 2016 All American Gold Cup.

"He's doing great," trainer Jimmy Padgett said. "We'll see how it goes with him. He's nominated to the Gold Cup and he may run in the Mr Jet Moore."

The Grade 2, $50,000 Mr Jet Moore Handicap over 400 yards will be on August 3 at Ruidoso Downs.

A gelding by FDD Dynasty, Jessies First Down was honored as the 2016 world champion and then the 2017 world champion.

Jessies First Down has earned $1,624,002 with 19 wins, 12 seconds and one third from 39 starts. In addition to the All American Gold Cup, the gelding has Grade 1 wins in The Championship at Sunland Park (twice), Zia Park Championship (twice), Albuquerque Fall Championship, Remington Park Championship, Leo Stakes and Refrigerator Handicap.

In his only 2019 start — the Grade 1, $250,000 Remington Park Invitational Championship — Jessies First Down stumbled badly at the start and then lost his running lane and any chance for the win. He was the 11-10 favorite.
