Waters flowing down the Rio Ruidoso stayed within the newly constructed riverbanks at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack today, the first major test following a significant rainfall.
“It rained well over an inch here yesterday, and we’re in good shape right now,” General Manager Rick Baugh said. “We were watching the waterflow in the past twenty four hours to see what would happen like everyone else. The waters flowed straight through the property within its banks.”
As a precautionary measure morning exercises for the Quarter Horses were cancelled this morning. “The race track remains completely unharmed by the recent weather events but we will continue to monitor the situation,” said Baugh. “We look forward to a strong weekend with trials for the Rainbow Futurity, Oaks and Derby.”
