OKLAHOMA CITY – Trainer Ed Hardy and jockey Angel O. Ramirez came up with a pair of wins, bookending the card, including the featured allowance winner One Fabulous Boy, who ran like his name and his heavily favored odds Sunday.

Hardy and Ramirez combined talents to win the first race of the night with the Paint, Gitter Dun Belle at 5-1 odds and then brought home the 2-5 favorite One Fabulous Boy at 550 yards in the nightcap.

One Fabulous Boy, a 7-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelded son of One Fabulous Eagle, out of the Check Him Out mare Check Out Kaelie, had been racing in stakes company as the year came to end in 2025. He dropped in class to an allowance field on Sunday and it was just what the doctor ordered, prevailing by a half-length over One Big Famous Lew (16-1 odds) for the victory.

One Fabulous Boy has now won two-of-three starts at 550 yards and 6-of-11 races at Remington Park. He earned $24,840 from this $43,460 allowance purse for owners Diane and Paul Wolfe of Simi Valley, Calif. The winner improved his lifetime record to 25 starts, 10 wins, one second and three thirds for a bankroll of $250,214. He was bred by his owners.

One Fabulous Boy paid $2.80 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show. He stopped the timer in :27.518 on the fast track, earning a speed index of 88.

The last time this gelding raced 550 yards was at Remington Park in allowance conditions on May 4 last year and he won that, too, by a full length. One Fabulous Boy had finished third in the Grade 2, $50,000 SLM Big Daddy Stakes in the race prior to that on March 9 to a monster distance horse named Mr Michel. After winning May  allowance race at Remington Park, he was entered back into stakes races at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Ia., and the Downs at Albuquerque in New Mexico. He had good fourth-place efforts in the Grade 2 Championship Challenge in Iowa on Aug. 17 and then in the Casino Downs Stakes on Oct. 18 before hanging it up for the year. The Sunday win was his first race back for One Fabulous Boy since turning 7 years old.

Remington Park racing moves into April with action Thursday through Saturday, April 2-4. The first race nightly is at 6pm-Central. There will be no Remington Park racing on Easter.

07 Uncle Redheads-action

OKLAHOMA CITY – One horse was flying on the outside from post-position 10 and another was cruising on the rail from the post-position one. When the photo finish came down, it was Uncle Redheads on the far outside who was the winner in the $75,000 Mr Master Bug Stakes on Saturday night at Remington Park.

The Mr Master Bug Stakes is for Oklahoma-bred 3-year-olds at 350 yards.

Uncle Redheads had won the heated battle over the inside horse, Famous N Relentless, by a head. Jockey Armando Alvidrez had just enough drive left in Uncle Redheads to get home first as the 2-1 toteboard favorite. Famous N Relentless (6-1) recorded the same 91 speed index as the winner, but couldn’t quite match that final stride. The runner-up finished three-quarters of a length in front of third-place finisher Apolitical Valor (8-1).

Uncle Redheads, a 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding by Uncle D, out of the One Sweet Jess mare Redheads Run Hotter, paid $6 to win, $3.60 to place and $3 to show.

It was the first win in this series for Alvidrez, trainer Jason Olmstead and owner Cavenaugh Quarter Horses of Fran Cavenaugh, based in Wayne, Okla. Another Cavenaugh did win this race in 2018 when AQHA Hall of Fame jockey G.R. Carter booted home Weetonas Lafawn for Donald Cavenaugh, Fran’s husband and trainer Clint Crawford.

Uncle Redheads covered the 350 yards in :17.535 over the fast track compared to Famous N Relentless’ time of :17.546. Olmstead also trains Famous N Relentless.

The rest of the order of finish was BP Hail Mary (11-1) fourth, Margarets Cowboy (39-1) fifth, Ding Dang Dulce (26-1) sixth, T Bar Fabulous Eagle (8-1) seventh, Cowboy 1 (6-1) eighth, KVN Design (17-1) ninth and Jess a Good Angel (3-1) 10th.

Uncle Redheads earned $42,750 for Cavenaugh and improved his lifetime record to 11-6-2-1 for $234,422 in career earnings. It was the third time in four tries that he has won at this distance. He was bred by Charles and Elizabeth Horton.

The Mr Master Bug is named after the 1982 All American Futurity winner who was bred and owned by Marvin and Lela Barnes of Ada, Okla. Mr Master Bug earned American Quarter Horse Champion honors in three consecutive years from 1982-1984 and retired with more than $1.7 million in earnings.

OKLAHOMA CITY – For the third consecutive year, trainer Jason Olmstead had his picture taken with the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile winner, this time with 13-1 longshot Apollitikal Dreamer on Saturday night.

It’s become quite the habit for jockey Ramiro Garcia as well. This was the second year in a row to the winner’s circle for him in this race. He and Olmstead teamed up last year with Juvenile Stakes winner Famous N Relentless, who ran second in the Mr Master Bug Stakes on Saturday. Go back to 2024 and you will find Olmstead in that winner’s circle photo with Relentless American with jockey Edwin Escobedo up.

Apollitikal Dreamer paid a whopping $28.20 to win on a $2 win ticket, $11.40 to place and $6.60 to show. The 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelded son of Apollitical Jess, from the Hes Relentless mare One Kool Dreamer, became the second maiden on Saturday to win for the first time in their careers, and against stakes company. He had run second in his Remington Park Futurity trial, beaten soundly by PYC Dollars Cowboy, one of the top four fastest qualifiers for that nearly $1 million final.

Apollitikal Dreamer outfinished runner-up D Amor (7-2) by three-quarters of a length for that first victory, and was another neck in front of third-place finisher Be Iconic (5-2 favorite). The winner stopped the timer for 330 yards in :16.774 over the fast track, good for an 88 speed index. The rest of the order of finish was JC Perseus (22-1) fourth, Small Town Hero (16-1) fifth, Cartel Lady 123 (3-1) sixth, Scif (3-1) seventh, Gold Medalist (25-1) eighth and Lovelee (23-1) ninth. Rockn My Socks was an early scratch from this race.

Apollitikal Dreamer was bred by owner Brenda Reiswig of Bismarck, N.D. He earned $40,816 from the purse for Reiswig and now stands at two starts, one win, one second for $44,216.

05 Rgs Debutant-action
©Dustin Orona Photography

OKLAHOMA CITY – Jockey James Flores continued his dominating ways in the Laico Bird Stakes at Remington Park, winning this race for the third time. His career hat trick in the race was aboard 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding RGs Debutant on Saturday night.

Flores had won the race in 2016 with Dicecapades and also with Vintage Candy in 2023. Three years later he was back in the winner’s circle aboard 19-1 longshot RGs Debutant for trainer Steve Jordan and owner GGG Racing of Mission, Texas. The winner is a gelded son of Prized Wagon, out of the Gol mare JA Gols Debutante. It was the first win in the stakes series for trainer and owner.

One doesn’t see it that often, but this gelding broke his maiden Saturday with stakes company in the $75,000 Laico Bird. He paid a healthy $40.80 to win, $17.20 to place and $9 to show. In his defense, the first time out in his career on March 12 at Remington Park, RGs Debutant hooked Apolliticalgolddigger in a maiden race, the fastest qualifier for one night of trials for the $971,955 Remington Park Futurity and lost by three-quarters of a length. He finished third to him. The next time out, he ran second, losing by only a head in the Remington Park Futurity trials on April 2.

RGs Debutant stopped the timer for 330 yards in :16.638, good for a 92 speed index. He just barely nosed out another longshot, Mister Sinatra (8-1), who lost the head-bob at the wire. They both took advantage of an awkward break from the gate from even-money favorite Gipsie Rose, who beat only two horses in the nine-horse field. No Vacancee was an early scratch from the race.

Whiskey Doc (6-1) got up for third, a half-length back of the top two. The rest of the order of finish was BP Jet Liner (5-1) fourth, Royal Candy P (15-1) fifth, Auntie D (23-1) sixth, Gipsie Rose (1-1) seventh, Eyesa Chick Magnet (5-1) eighth and County Line Capo (39-1) ninth.

RGs Debutant earned $43,200 for the victory and improved to 3-1-1-1, $49,668. He was bred by Roy Garza and was not purchased at auction.

The Laico Bird Stakes is named after the 1967 All American Futurity winner and American Quarter Horse Association World Champion who was bred in Oklahoma and campaigned over her career by Jimmy Jones, of Norman, Okla.
