OKLAHOMA CITY – Entice Me Ona Monday was getting a lot of buzz last year when he was made the 2-1 post-time favorite in the $868,000 Remington Park Futurity and the accolades he received appeared valid Thursday night in his featured allowance win.
The 3-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding by Cyber Monday, out of the Make It Anywhere mare Enticilizeur, didn’t win the Remington Park Futurity, finishing fourth, but he stamped his mark as one of the fastest 2-year-olds on the grounds in 2025. He showed that same glimpse of talent Thursday night, winning an allowance race for non-winners of two career races, impressively under jockey Ramiro Garcia.
The Entice Me Ona Monday victory gave trainer Jason Olmstead a sweep of the late daily double. His trainee, Racket Ridge at even-money odds had won the 11th race, also in allowance company. He was ridden to victory by Francisco Ramirez, Jr., and combined with stablemate, Entice Me Ona Monday (4-5) to return $12.40 for the late double.
Entice Me Ona Monday’s first out as a 3-year-old on April 4 at Remington Park was almost as remarkable when he ran third in the Remington Park Derby trials. He was beaten by a horse named Uncle Redheads in his trial, a horse that is two-for-two this meet and won the Mr Master Bug Stakes on Saturday, April 18. Uncle Redheads is also trained by Olmstead.
Entice Me Ona Monday earned $18,090 in his allowance race for owner Tejas Troubadours of Rhome, Texas. The gelding improved his career mark to six starts, two wins, one second and one third for a bankroll of $112,396.
Entice Me Ona Monday was bred by Monty McNair and was a $30,000 purchase in the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale of 2024.
Entice Me Ona Monday covered the 350 yards over a fast track in his allowance win in a time of :17.997, earning a 78 speed index into a strong headwind of 22 mph. Entice Me Ona Monday paid $3.80 to win, $2.80 to place and $2.40 to show. The winner was a half-length better than runner-up Southern Furrtreeous (8-1), who was another nose in front of Dark Side of D Moon (7-1), the third-place finisher.
Cruz Triples
Jockey Roman Cruz started the new racing week at Remington Park, posting a riding triple on Thursday.
The hat trick started when Cruz rode RCR Dice Run ($8.20 to win) to victory in race five, followed by Cyber Storm 918 ($5) in the sixth race. The third win on the evening for Cruz was in race nine aboard BP Electric Cowboy ($6).
The three wins for Cruz gives him 25 on the season. He sits in second place in the jockey standings behind leader Juan Pulido who had 47 victories.
Remington Park racing continues Friday through Sunday, April 24-26. The first race nightly is at 6pm while Sunday racing starts at 4pm. All times are Central.
The Friday night card features the Remington Park Appaloosa Futurity and the American Paint Classic Futurity.
