The 38th Annual Heritage Place Yearling Sale kicked off with a pre-sale party from 5:00-7:00 p.m. the evening before the big event. Buyers and consignors reconnected while viewing the yearlings and enjoying appetizers offered at the many booths.

Cars overflowed to the highway at Ruidoso Downs Race Track Sunday afternoon! Shuttles were running nonstop to take race enthusiasts to and from the track for a big day of racing. After the races were over the final day of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale started at 6:00 p.m.
The rain finally let up in Ruidoso and the sun came out with a light breeze to follow it on Saturday afternoon. There was a full day of racing at Ruidoso Downs followed by the second night of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.
The All American weekend festivities continued on Friday, September 2. More people started arriving to the mountain to attend the first day of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. Before the sale started there was racing down on the track. The Bill Reed Memorial Stakes was the only quarter horse stakes race on the program for the day.
Thursday kicked off the countdown to the 2016 All American Futurity Weekend. Mid morning Thursday, people gathered in the Turf club for the All American Futurity & Derby Draw & Brunch. Later in the evening guests attended the All American Futurity & Derby Dinner Banquet at the racetrack while the Lazy E Ranch Preview was happening up the road in the Sale Pavilion.
Speedhorse Races ran at Fair Meadows in Tulsa on July 30th. The Grade 3 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Futurity was won by Accountably (American Runaway-Check The Account) while the Speedhorse Quarter Horse Derby was won by Card Games (Apollitical Jess-Stellar Shay). The Grade 1 Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Futurity was won by Truck Yeah (SF Royal Quick Flash-Crazy Mother Trucker). It was a spectacular weekend of racing!

Prior to the sale, a medication town-hall meeting hosted by the American Quarter Horse Association was held at 8:00 a.m. and OQHRA hosted a party immediately following the sale.
