Cars overflowed to the highway at Ruidoso Downs Race Track Sunday afternoon! Shuttles were running nonstop to take race enthusiasts to and from the track for a big day of racing. After the races were over the final day of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale started at 6:00 p.m.

The rain finally let up in Ruidoso and the sun came out with a light breeze to follow it on Saturday afternoon. There was a full day of racing at Ruidoso Downs followed by the second night of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

The All American weekend festivities continued on Friday, September 2. More people started arriving to the mountain to attend the first day of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. Before the sale started there was racing down on the track. The Bill Reed Memorial Stakes was the only quarter horse stakes race on the program for the day.

Thursday kicked off the countdown to the 2016 All American Futurity Weekend. Mid morning Thursday, people gathered in the Turf club for the All American Futurity & Derby Draw & Brunch. Later in the evening guests attended the All American Futurity & Derby Dinner Banquet at the racetrack while the Lazy E Ranch Preview was happening up the road in the Sale Pavilion.

The traffic was moving slow Monday getting to Ruidoso Downs Race Track on Labor Day for the long awaited $3,000,000 All American Quarter Horse Futurity-G1. There were 12 races scheduled at Ruidoso Downs, but race 11 was the one everyone had been waiting for.

There was a full day of racing at Ruidoso Downs on Saturday. There were three quarter horse races scheduled for the day - the All American Gold Cup, the Bill Reed Memorial and a two-year-old maiden race. Later that evening the second day of the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale resumed after racing was concluded.

The day began bright and early with a few morning workouts at Ruidoso Downs. Later in the day, Ruidoso Downs had a full day of racing for All American enthusiasts to enjoy gearing up for the big races. Later that evening the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale took place at the sale pavilion.

Hundreds lined the sale barn area at Ruidoso Downs Thursday evening to preview Lazy E's 125 Yearlings for the 2015 Sale. While Lazy E was having their yearling preview the All American Qualifiers were enjoying a dinner that began with a cocktail hour in the Ruidoso Downs Race Horse Hall of Fame.

The 2015 All American Finals Weekend got off to a good start. Early Thursday morning people gathered to take a sneak peak at the yearlings in the sale barn while others attended the All American brunch and post position draw.

All American Futurity Qualifiers

A total of 326 two-year-old Quarter Horses entered 34 trials to the $3,000,000 All American Futurity-G1 at Ruidoso Downs. The trials were contested over two days, Aug. 21-22, with 17 heats run each day.

All American Juvenile Qualifiers

All American Juvenile Qualifiers
A total of 326 two-year-old Quarter Horses entered the $3,000,000 All American Futurity-G1 at Ruidoso Downs. From 34 trials over two days, Aug. 21-22, only the 10 fastest made it and the next ten fastest were invited back to the make up Juvenile with an increased purse of $200,000.

All American Derby Qualifiers

All American Derby Qualifiers
A total of 12 trials to the Grade 1 All American Derby were held on Aug. 23 at Ruidoso Downs. The three year olds with the 10 fastest times earned a starting spot in the $2,378,383 All American Derby on Sept. 6.

The New Mexico-Bred Sale, which was held Aug. 21-22 at the Ruidoso Downs Sales Pavilion, was split into two sessions. Quarter Horse yearlings sold Friday and Thoroughbreds sold Saturday. There were, however, several Quarter Horse mares that sold on Saturday as well.

The Village of Ruidoso welcomed some of Quarter Horse Racing’s most avid fans the weekend of August 21-23, 2015. Families of up to four and five generations met at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack as spectators and participants in the qualifying heats for the richest races of the summer.
