Meet The Staff
President, 2010 - Present
John is owner and manager of Speedhorse magazine. The purchase of Speedhorse five years ago led to his return to Quarter Horse racing, prior to which time for the past 25 years his concentration was primarily in the cattle and ranch horse industry. Under John’s direction, Speedhorse has implemented the Paint and Appaloosa Triple Crown and High Point Champion Award, as well as the Sam Thompson Memorial Jockey Award.
Executive Editor, 1997 - Present
Bachelor of Business Administration, with Distinction, University of Oklahoma. Gloria arrived at Speedhorse with a well-grounded combination of hands-on business and horse knowledge. She previously worked as a stockbroker, and received the National Pen Women's Award. She has been involved in racing and showing horses for many years and has been an integral member of the Speedhorse team for the past 18-years.
Production Manager, 2000 - Present
Leann joined Speedhorse in 2000 and, quite literally, learned the business from the ground up. Speedhorse readers have seen huge changes in the publication in recent years. Leann has contributed immensely to that forward progress through her creation of contemporary, progressive editorial design and layout. Leann graduated college with a degree in Graphic Communications and Spanish. Her second language fluency in spanish is also a tremendous asset with Speedhorse’s ever expanding foreign markets.
Senior Graphics Designer/Art Director, 1985 - Present
After moving his young family to Norman, OK in early 1985, Mark began as a paste-up artist at Speedhorse in the winter of ’85. Today, he handles the design of advertising graphics, covers, posters, brochures, logos and in-house promotions. Working closely with Leann, the Production Manager on a daily basis, they handle each other’s overflow and have devised a system of graphics production that works like a well-oiled machine week after week.
Production Assistant, 2012 - Present
Nancy joined Speedhorse in the autumn of 2012 in prepress production and is enjoying her new co-workers and the work itself. “Despite the fact that I’ve been doing this work for a living for more than 35 years, I have learned a lot since I came to work at Speedhorse, and I love that!” she tells us.
Lisa joined Speedhorse in November of 2016 as a Production Assistant. Having earned a BFA in Graphic Design and acquiring over 10 years of experience, she is a welcome addition to our award-winning production team. As a native of Southeast Texas, she grew up the youngest and only girl of a typical coastal fishing, deer hunting and duck hunting family. Lisa thrives on staying active and when she’s not riding her beloved Quarter Horse, Cooper, she’s in the gym or on the mat sharpening her kickboxing skills.
Advertising Sales, 2010 - Present
Dolli is a true animal lover, and her extensive sales experience makes her a perfect match for Speedhorse. She has a Bachelors Degree in Advertising from the University of Oklahoma. She worked for The Metro Downtowner Newspaper in Oklahoma City as Advertising Director for 29 years. Dolli is now Senior Sales Director for Speedhorse.
Advertising, 2014 - Present
Lizzy grew up on her grandparents' greyhound farm in Cache, OK. At their Triple Threat Kennel, she learned the in’s and out’s of the racing industry and gained a deep love for the farm life. After settling in Norman, OK in 2009, Lizzy attended Rose State College where she majored in Business Administration and Accounting. Lizzy made her start at Speedhorse as an accountant and moved into advertising.
Advertising Sales, 2016 - Present
Marie Littlefield has had a passion for horses of all types for most of her life. She and her husband have a training facility where he trains barrel horses, roping horses, and working cow horses, and where Marie rides her own jumpers and cow horses. Marie's most recent endeavor with the Retired Racehorse Project was with retired Thoroughbred racehorse Allinfasttime, a 3-time winner and earned over $70,000 on the track. Marie began working at Speedhorse in 2016 and has made herself an asset to the sales department.
Assistant to the Editor, April, 2015 - Present
Heather Ridgway has been involved with horses since she began riding at the young age of three in the English discipline. A native of Oklahoma, Heather partnered with Nickel Ridge Cattle Company in the raising of bucking stock and from that partnership came her prized American Bucking Bull, Inc. (ABBI) heifer, Maybelline. "I love it all," Heather Said, "from helping my grandfather with his cattle to barrel racing, roping and team penning."
Editorial Assistant, July, 2015 - Present
Emily Blankenship was born and raised in Southern California. She spent her summers assisting at a small animal veterinary hospital where her mother was a veterinarian technician. Emily began showing Western Pleasure horses at about 12 years of age and fell in love with everything horse related. She worked at various ranches, exercising horses as a teenager, and later breaking and training horses for sale.
Accounting, January 2016 - Present
Ashley began working in accounting for Speedhorse in January of 2016. She received her certification in accounting and graduated from Oklahoma City Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business. Ashley shows initiative in all she does and has found a home here at Speedhorse. Although new to the Quarter Horse industry, Ashley says she is, “enthusiastic about learning all I can about the business.” Born and raised in Oklahoma, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family when not at work.
Copywriter 2016 - Present
Erin grew up in the small mountain town of Kremmling, Colorado, riding barrel horses, competing at rodeos, and starting colts. She studied at Colorado State University, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Equine Sciences. After graduating, Erin and her husband moved to Oklahoma in 2015. She worked as a veterinary technician for a year prior to joining Speedhorse. She has always remained passionate about the Quarter Horse industry, giving her a valuable perspective for her position here at Speedhorse.
